Picture this: it’s early morning and you’re standing in an outdated kitchen. The lighting is dim, cabinets are overflowing, and every time you cook you have to walk a long loop between the stove, fridge, and sink. Food odours linger, and BC moisture is quietly damaging finishes and materials. Sound familiar?
As a contractor at Harad Construction, I see this every day and I also see how quickly life improves when the space is evaluated properly and rebuilt with a plan. We start with a real assessment of your kitchen to identify what you actually need (not what looks good on Pinterest).
Clients usually tell us the same frustrations
An inefficient layout that wastes time and energy
Not enough storage, or cabinets that don’t work for daily use
Hidden moisture and ventilation problems (very common in BC)
Ergonomic, productivity-driven layouts with smart lighting & modern finishes.
a careful review of your space structure, traffic flow, and any Strata limitations so we can recommend the right level of work.
WHAT WE OFFER
After we inspect the cabinet boxes, layout constraints, and building/Strata requirements, we’ll recommend one of these options based on what matters most to you
If your cabinet boxes are solid but the look is dated, we replace the doors, drawer fronts, and exterior finishes—and we can also update the countertop if needed.
In one project, we first addressed hidden moisture, then upgraded the hardware and finishes to refresh the entire kitchen with minimal disruption.
Best for: Strata condos and apartments
Why it works: Faster timeline, lower cost, and a dramatic “new kitchen” feel without tearing everything apart.
When the problem is function poor layout, awkward movement, limited prep space we improve the work triangle (stove, fridge, sink), add an island or peninsula, and upgrade electrical, lighting, and storage.
For example, we corrected traffic flow and added smart storage like deep drawers and Lazy Susan corner solutions cutting cooking time significantly.
Best for: Everyday functionality upgrades
Bonus: We manage permits and coordination so you don’t have to.
If the kitchen is worn out or there are risks such as old wiring, failing finishes, or deeper building issues, we rebuild from the ground up: walls, windows (if needed), ventilation, plumbing/electrical, and all finishes.
In one home, we upgraded outdated wiring and helped reduce costs by aligning the project with available BC energy incentives (where applicable).
Best for: Older homes, safety upgrades, long-term value
Result: A safer, more efficient kitchen built to last for years.
Our process
Once you’re ready to begin, we build a priority list together
Then we’ll show you the transformation using 3D design so you can see exactly what you’re getting before work begins.
Strata-ready project management
We handle permits and Strata coordination, including elevator booking (where required), dust control planning, and minimizing disruption for neighbours. On-site, protection comes first for example, we use containment and filtration strategies so families can often stay in the home during the project.
You approve any changes, you receive weekly updates, and the final handover includes a clean delivery with practical guidance such as waterproofing behind the sink area and providing as-built documentation where needed.
Small details create big daily improvements, especially in Vancouver homes and condos:
Moisture resistance matters. Here’s a quick comparison
Pros: Consistent look, easy maintenance
Cons:Can be sensitive to prolonged high heat
Pros: Better heat tolerance, natural patterns
Cons:Needs periodic sealing/maintenance
Pros: Waterproof, scratch/heat resistant, easy to clean
Cons:Cooler underfoot; requires proper subfloor prep
Pros: Warmer/softer underfoot, faster installation
Cons:Can be damaged by deep scratches
Many Vancouver kitchens are compact, so we often use:
These changes can turn a tight kitchen into one that feels open and practical.
